Come and see our excavation site and help us uncover more history. We will a variety of activities including an exhibition, do your own dig, and object handling.

Both days 10am-4pm 

We will have some of our finds on display and even some finds for you to handle. You will be able to take part in some of the excavations looking for the Victorian Gardens and paths.

Talk at Upminster Windmill Visitor Centre- 7pm

To celebrate the Festival Of Archaeology we will be hosting a talk about the Fenwick Treasure. Join Adam Wightmas as he informs us about this hoard of Roman Jewellery. Removal of the Cap

The Cap is removed

The cap was gently removed and lowered to the ground as if it was delicate glass.  Soon it will be on its way to Holland for refurbishment.

Once the cap was removed the Dust Floor was open to the elements.   This is the view from above with the wallower still in place

Archives - A request

We have a huge archive of memorabilia about the Windmill but many of the records are incomplete.  Would you please send us (or contact us for collection) ANY old postcards, newspaper articles, magazine articles, photographs, objects, drawings or documents that refer to the Windmill.  We will simply copy what you send us and we will return the originals.  Anything and everything is of interest.
