Sunday 21 August - The Old Chapel

The Friends of Upminster Windmill will be on hand at the Old Chapel, Upminster, to talk about the history of the site as well as the current restoration project. They will be showcasing their work around interpreting the mill site.

The Cap is lifted

The rather flimsy cap containing the brake wheel and shaft was gently removed ready to be transported to Holland for refurbishment.

Removal of the Cap

The Cap is removed

The cap was gently removed and lowered to the ground as if it was delicate glass.  Soon it will be on its way to Holland for refurbishment.

The Dust Floor

The Dust floor as you have never seen it.

Once the cap was removed the Dust Floor was open to the elements.   This is the view from above with the wallower still in place

Archives - A request

We have a huge archive of memorabilia about the Windmill but many of the records are incomplete.  Would you please send us (or contact us for collection) ANY old postcards, newspaper articles, magazine articles, photographs, objects, drawings or documents that refer to the Windmill.  We will simply copy what you send us and we will return the originals.  Anything and everything is of interest.
