VOLUNTEER

Upminster Windmill is re-opening to the public in May 2023. The mill, built in 1803, is widely considered one of the finest remaining examples of its type. Having ceased working commercially in the early 1930s, it is close to being back to full working order, thanks to generous grants from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Veolia Environmental Trust and the hard work of our volunteer team.

To open the mill to the public, the Friends of Upminster Windmill are recruiting volunteers from all backgrounds and age ranges to grow our friendly and welcoming team. We have a huge variety of roles available, including guides and stewards for the windmill itself, visitor welcome and retail roles. We are also looking to grow our education and outreach, maintenance, gardening and digital technology teams. Appropriate training and support will be provided for all roles.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please contact us at volunteer@upminsterwindmill.org or fill in the form on this page.

We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all our volunteers and visitors. Proof of identity is required for all roles and suitability will be assessed during our on-boarding process.
